Design Museum

The Design Museum occupies the former Commonwealth Institute in Kensington, London — a Grade II* listed building defined by its dramatic hyperbolic paraboloid copper roof, completed in 1962. The 2016 transformation by John Pawson inserted a warm oak interior into the raw concrete shell, creating a sustained dialogue between the handcrafted and the industrial, the permanent and the temporary. These images trace the visitor's journey through the building's stacked galleries, open atria, and the permanent pixel mosaic installation that runs as a continuous thread along the balustrades.
