Emmanuel College

Emmanuel College occupies a former Dominican priory site in central Cambridge, its seventeenth-century chapel range and colonnaded Front Court attributed to Christopher Wren. The North Court extension, completed by Níall McLaughlin Architects in 2019, adds student accommodation and teaching facilities within a sequence of new brick courtyards positioned behind the historical fabric. The new buildings are clad in handmade brick — warm, varied, tactile — set against the dressed limestone and weathered grey Cambridge brick of the older college, proposing continuity through material rather than imitation of form.
